Alexa Kelman

MA, MFT
she/her

Alexa likes to provide a nonjudgmental space in which you can take an honest look at what is happening in your life and grow as you move forward. She does this by looking at underlying thoughts, feelings, and behavioral/relational patterns that have contributed to the development and maintenance of the issues you are experiencing right now.

She believes successful therapy takes transparency, commitment, personal accountability, and mutual respect. She will work to help you identify inherent strengths, heal past and present wounds, and generate change from within yourself. She loves that everyone brings unique life experiences, strengths, and challenges to the therapeutic process.

Alexa believes the process of gaining insight into a person’s life cannot be rushed, so she uses short- and long-term techniques depending on the individual needs of her clients. Through an empathetic process, she guides therapeutic discussions in order for her clients to discover the underlying problems for themselves, so that they may expand and utilize their skills and strengths to live more meaningful and rewarding lives.

Alexa received her Masters in Couple & Family Therapy from the Adler School of Professional Psychology. Her undergraduate degree is from Indiana University, where she had a concentration in Gender Studies. She has completed specific training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), the Gottman Method and Prepare and Enrich premarital counseling. Alexa is LGBTQIA+ affirming, sex-positive, kink-aware, and she understands how racist systems cause multi-generational and systemic trauma.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their family/friends, she practices mindfulness and positive self-talk, she enjoys organizing, traveling, live music, listening to mental health podcasts, Peloton rides and trying new restaurants in the city.
