Navigating the mental health needs of young children and adolescents can feel unpredictable, consequential, and nerve-wracking for not just the child, but for the caregivers and the broader family unit. No matter what challenges you or your child bring to the table, whether that be a difficulty with understanding neurodiversity, coping with a new medical or psychosocial diagnosis, regulating emotions, coping with anxiety or depression, and more, I do my utmost to ensure that the caregiver(s) and the child feel supported along the way.
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Lawrence University, in Appleton, WI, and a Master’s of Social Work from Loyola University Chicago. In my practice, I draw from an array of professional experiences spanning montessori education, nonprofit social work, inpatient mental health, and private therapy to help inform my approach in working with children, adolescents, and their caregiver(s). As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I believe that individual progress and growth is achievable, but only as long as the family system is equally empowered with the resources, knowledge and support necessary.
As a Mental Health Therapist, I am passionate about fostering a child’s innate ability to play freely as a critical component of the therapeutic process. I am enthusiastic about helping children and adolescents find their voice and discover ways to navigate the world that empower and excite them. To guide this work, I use a structured, evidence-based, and flexible framework to help create a safe space for my clients to shed inhibitions, make mistakes, and develop crucial life skills, ultimately nurturing their resilience. My sessions are infused with creativity and engagement, which I find enhances the therapeutic experience for the child and allows us to unpack and navigate through their challenges.
Outside of work, I spend time with my husband, daughter, and our dog (a collie). I am a huge fan of Broadway in Chicago and the Chicago theatre scene, and I thoroughly enjoy singing along to my favorite show tunes in the kitchen while my husband cooks. As a proud new parent, I am excited to experience all that parenting can bring, and look forward to sharing some of my passions like theatre, traveling the world, nature, reading, and the arts with my child.
