“YOU are the expert of your story, and I am here to listen! I come to sessions curious and open to what brings you in and eager to show up as a supportive guide. I’ll engage with you with empathy and respect, understanding that you are impacted by your perception of the world and the world’s perception of you. We’ll work together to expand your ways of thinking to support mindfulness and insight. I hope to offer a warm environment to explore your complex emotions and experiences. I’m looking forward to meeting you!”
Emani pulls from many therapeutic approaches including CBT, SFT, EFT, DBT, ACT, IFS, and polyvagal theory. She has worked with substance use and a wide range of populations across multiple demographics. She meets with individuals, couples, families, the LGBTQIA2S+ community, the intellectually and physically disabled community, and people with chronic health conditions.
“I advocate for and will always work towards social justice, which includes offering compassionate and respectful care to marginalized communities, using ability-inclusive practices, and understanding Health At Every Size ® principles. I am a community-based therapist focused on reducing the reach of white supremacy and its ideologies (e.g., anti-fatness, racism, ableism, homophobia) where I can. If desired by clients, I have masks available to wear and offer to wear a mask myself, and I have an air purifier on during all in-person sessions. I will also be available for telehealth sessions!”
Emani received a Bachelor’s degree in child and family studies with a concentration in child development from Baylor University in Waco, TX. She received her Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. Afterwards, she attended an internship at St. Mary’s Regional Hospital Family Medicine Clinic in Grand Junction, CO, where she received an advanced specialization certificate in Medical Family Therapy.
“For something fun about me… I love sitting near water and reading a book or listening to music or a podcast! I *secretly* really enjoy watching reality TV shows with my partner. I also really enjoy puzzles, mysteries, and psychological thrillers (in any form)!”
